When I look at Terry Rozier I see one player and one player only: Isaiah Canaan. Both of then are nominally “point guards” because of their height but they’re both more like midget shooting guards. Both of them struggle to finish at the rim because of their small size, and, because of this, both of them would rather just shoot three-pointers all day than drive to the rack. Neither of them can shoot 40% from the field for an entire season despite scoring being their main skill. Both of them are just a little bit on the tubby side, to the point where if you walked by them on the street you would not realize you were looking at a real-life in-the-flesh NBA player.
Let’s hope that Rozier enjoys more success than Canaan did at the NBA level. If you remember, Canaan is close to being out of the league. Rozier hasn’t shown enough at this point to guarantee him another contract after his rookie deal comes due, but I imagine at least one or two more teams will be intrigued enough by his potential to give him another chance. Besides, he’s still got one more year plus a team option on his current contract, plenty of time to turn things around and prove that he’s NBA-caliber. It would help if there wasn’t another midget scorer at his position making him look bad.
