Yes, there are tons of performances that happened tonight that are way better than this. You think I don’t know that? I looked at these god-damn boxscores and basically had a panic attack. But the reality of the situation is that right now I’m most interested in players I’ve never seen before. I don’t care that Dennis “Aggravated Assault” Schroder had 28 or whatever. Well, I do care, a little bit, but right now I care a lot more that John “Colling Card” Collins had 14.
You and I and every NBA fan has already seen the Summer League highlights of him, no doubt. So it’s not like we’re going in blind (like we were with Dillon Brooks). But that’s not the same as the real thing. Not even close. This is the NBA, damn it. Collins just dropped 14 against actual NBA talent who was actually trying to stop him, and I couldn’t be more excited.
