Way back in January of 2015, I wrote these words:
“So I am officially done making Vooch highlights until he scores forty. Did I say forty? I meant fifty. No more Vooch videos until he scores fifty.”
The cryptic word “Vooch” that I used represents Nikola Vucevic, if you were wondering.
Now, some context. At around that time, Vucci Mane was constantly scoring 30 points, and people were constantly not caring at all. Even though he’s a Euro, and Euros have a whole continent full of nut-huggers who should be watching their highlight vids. I was getting a little frustrated, and I lashed out with threats of withholding highlights. An ethically abhorrent threat, and I apologize. I think there’s something in the Geneva Convention about the withholding of highlights being a war crime.
My point still stands, though. I later broke my promise by making a vid for his then-career-high 37 point performance in April of that year (a performance which featured 18 made buckets and is thus probably even more fun than this one), and only received 13000 views. If someone like, oh, I don’t know, Boban Marjanovic scored that many, YouTube would have to buy a whole new rack of servers to handle the onrushing flood of traffic.
So, this video doesn’t show Vucevic scoring 50. That would be cool, and significantly more insane than this mere 41 points. 40-plus points is something I’ve been expecting from this dude for a while now, given his ability to score nicely from inside and outside, as well as his teammates’ lack of competency. Now that it has happened, I don’t even feel much. Maybe for people who haven’t watched the Magic since Dwight left this will be fun and unexpected, but I’ll be sitting over here waiting for a 50-burger.
