Man, I turned this game off when the Lakers were getting their butt kicked by 20. Well, that and because League Pass was spazzing out hard. But mainly because I didn’t want to watch more cruddy Lakers basketball. Also I don’t even like acknowledging DeMarcus Cousins’ existence by watching games where he’s playing.
Joke’s on me, because even though the Lakers did end up losing, they put up a spirited fight, and I missed it all. I missed the Kyle Kuzma things, the Jordan Clarkson things, the Big Baller things, the Josh Hart (!!!!!!) things, why didn’t I just keep watching? It’s not like there were even any other games going on to watch. And you know what? I bet the camera-people showed Alvin Gentry looking sweaty and nervous, knowing that if his Pelicans blew the game, his ass was grass. God damn it.
Highlights are great, but they sometimes don’t capture the “spirit” of a game of basketball. You can watch Kuzma score 20 points, but you can’t feel what it was like to see a young team play their hearts out. Or something.
