The Philadelphia 76ers are in the “Win Now” part of their process. No more tanking, no more injuries, no more lineups composed wholly of D-Leaguers. Wins are the goal, playoffs are the goal. And an important part of the transition was to sign some savvy vets who can savvily impart their savvy vet wisdom on the unsavvy young talent.
J.J. Redick is probably one of the savviest dudes in the league. Undersized, unathletic, white, he somehow made a career for himself after being left for dead in his first few years in Orlando. He knows what it takes to maximize one’s own potential, and also how to get to the playoffs. You might not realize it, or maybe you do, but he’s made the playoffs every single year. All of them. Even that crappy half-year with the Bucks (which I barely remember I think I repressed those memories), so there’s basically no chance Philly misses out this year.
