Because I hate everything and want every player do to badly, I feel compelled to point out that, while De’Aaron Fox did indeed score fourteen points in the Kings’ overtime win over the Pelicans, he achieved the feat while going 5-of-14 from the field. Fox is still shooting over 40% on the season even after this dismal shooting display, but only barely.
Remember, the official demarcation line between being a poor shooter and an acceptable shooter is 40%. For players above the height of 6’5″, the official demarcation line is 43%, and if you’re over 6’10”, the official demarcation line is 49% unless you’re some kind of new-age “stretch whatever” player, in which case I don’t have anything to say to you.
Fox, in my not-very-humble-because-i-control-a-highlights-empire opinion, continues to get outplayed by Frank Mason, who has significantly more college experience. Still, Fox has the higher upside due to his insane quicks, his significant ups, and his hairless, kissable babyface.
