The Hornets finally got another win after winning only one of the previous eight games, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist did his best to shed the fairly-applied “bust” label by going 8-of-9 from the field and achieving the not-so-coveted “4×4” (reaching a total of four in four different stats, much easier than a 5×5).
I totally didn’t watch the game at all, but I see that Carmelo Anthony had a bad game, so I bet that MKG totally locked him down. That’s what I would expect to happen anyway. Kidd-Gilchrist gets a good amount of minutes and it’s not because he’s some sort of offensive powerhouse. In this game he showed off some of his scoring ability, but his scores were mostly circumstancial, often taking advantage of fast-break opportunities that he himself generated. It’s too late for him to turn into the kind of scoring machine that you want from the second-overall pick, but at least he can be a role-player for twelve to fifteen years.
