MSG Network spent pretty much this whole game trying to guilt me into donating to Garden of Dreams. At a few points I had the number dialed and my credit card in hand, but I was able to step back from the brink. Not like I don’t support their cause, but I have to save all the money I can for when I need to pay to be able to upload YouTube videos/browse basketball-reference/use my alternate Reddit account to troll Magic fans. The anxiety Net Neutrality has caused me today is off the charts.
In between advertisements for charity, a basketball game was played, and Courtney Lee scored 27 in it. The commentators took notice a couple of times, so that was good. If this was national game we might have heard the name “Lee” uttered one or two times. An understandable policy, since we’ve already determined that no one cares about this guy, even if he is averaging a career-high in points.
I don’t want to say that his confidence early in the game was unfounded, but it totally was. What was he doing shooting those shots so quickly? Did he know he was hot? Was he hitting everything in warmups? Newsflash Courtney: EVERYONE hits all their shots in warmups. It doesn’t grant you license to just go out there and chuck.
