It’s a sad day for all involved when I upload a Clint Capela highlight video but can’t include the number of dunks as one of the statistics in the title. It’s not like the Capellmeister didn’t dunk in this game, because he totally did, but it was only, like, three dunks. Three dunks out of nine field goals is only 33%; on the season, 48% of Capela’s field goals are dunks. You can see that the math doesn’t work out. Typing “Clint Capela 18 Points/3 Dunks Highlights” makes it sound lamer than if you just leave off the dunks.
If it makes you feel better, Capela pulls out a Eurostep dunk in this video, and it’s just as devastating as it sounds. Dejounte Murray, the Spurs player who got stepped around, was pissed off after it happened, while Joffrey Lauvergne just sorta looked like he could disappear somewhere and never be found again. It’s plays like this that make me think to myself, “Is there a reason that Capela isn’t a consensus top-five center in the league other than unfair bias towards so-called “skill” players?
