Jamal “The Kitchener Utensil” Murray leads all 2016 draftees in total points. I don’t know if that’s a surprising stat or not; I’m leading towards not, because that draft all had crappy rookie seasons, or were injured, or won ROY while not impressing anybody with their scoring ability. It’s still impressive though. Someone has to lead in that stat, and it’s frickin’ Jamal Murray. He gets buckets, people. It took him until a few games in to do it, but once the faucet is turned on, it’s not turning off again. No sir. Unlimited buckets from now until the end of his career.
It’s games like these that make me wonder what the future holds for him. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he ended up averaging like 25ppg or something at some point in his career. All he needs to do is get that three-point percentage up and BAM. He looks so good, even when he’s missing. And you know what? I bet they said the same thing about Stephen Curry. And Michael Jordan. He could also peak right now and be a 15ppg scorer for the rest of his career, but that would be okay too.
And for those keeping score at home, he missed a free throw tonight, ending whatever streak of them he had going. Michael Williams’ record is safe for now.
