Sometimes I wonder how good T.J. McConnell would be if he had his own team. And not just any team; this team, the Philadelphia 76ers, everything the same except with Ben Simmons not anywhere in the picture.
When I think about these things, I usually come up with the same conclusion: “really good”. Remember, he’s basically a lower-usage Steve Nash, and I’m not saying that because they’re both white and both really good looking (seriously compare T.J. from his rookie year and T.J. now and it’s like a whole new dude). He plays with that same sense of control. If Simmons wasn’t out there hogging minutes and ball simply because he’s one of the best rookies we’ve seen in a long time and an All-Star caliber player, we’d get to see what a real floor general looks like with Embiid and Redick.
