Everyone’s stepping up for the Raptors now. Except for Stanley Johnson, who might be irreparably broken. Everyone else though, they know that their team is suffering some injury problems and are ready and willing to play big minutes and put up big numbers.
That’s how you know an organization is good: when their role-players actually play legitimate roles (and can scale up into bigger ones) instead of just sucking all the team like on some teams. It pains me to praise the Raptors organization, but here I am. I hope you’re happy. This is what Terence Davis has made me do. Begrudgingly.
Davis had taken a temporary break from stepping up to let some other people step up (Oshae Brissett sends his thanks in the form of one of those flower arrangements that’s actually made of fruit), but now he’s back, and ready to literally win a game for his team. The Hornets were surprisingly feisty, and Toronto needed all of Davis’ career-high 23 points to squeak out the win.
When I say “literally win a game for his team”, maybe I’m exaggerating slightly, but only slightly. With around three minutes left and his team down by three, Davis splashed down two triples in a row to give his team a sudden lead, which would be cut into, but never again surpassed. He’s the hero, but I think the commentators didn’t mention that he went undrafted enough. Come on. When you’ve got an undrafted rookie, you mention that fact EVERY time he does ANYTHING good. Gotta rub it in people’s faces.
