Behold: the first video for Ekpe “Squidward” Udoh on DownToBuck’s archivium of scrubs. I ignored him for the whole time he was on the Bucks, and then he went to the Clippers to ride pine, and then he disappeared to Turkey so he could start a book club. And it’s not like he was too good for the channel. Far from it, unless your primary metric for evaluating a player is his on-off stats. Apparently Udoh was a beast at those.
The drought is over. Udoh is back in the good ol’ USA, and he’s ready to do what he’s always done: never score, barely rebound, and block some FRICKIN’ shots. He’s averaging 6/6/2.5/1.5/2.5 this season per 36. What kind of dipsy-doo player averages those kind of numbers? His lack of scoring is comical, supposedly he boxes out so that’s why he can’t grab a board, but he passes like Jokic 0.5 and gets stocks (steals/blocks) like an elite defensive anchor.
Starting in place of Derrick Favors, he put up a pretty nuts statline: 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks. Including a clutch steal at the end to seal the victory. I was all set to type “Career High” for his point total, but it turns out he scored more a couple times for the Warriors, back when they were still trying to prove he wasn’t a bust by making him shoot more than once per game.
