Patty Mills’ face is unsettling to me. Look at the thumbnail; can you honestly say you too are not discomforted? There is no light shining in those eyes, no spirit contained in that haunted visage.
The problem is, I’m pretty sure, is that his eyes are way sunken in there. Does he have any peripheral vision at all? Half the time you can’t even see his eyeballs because they’re covered in shadow. I actually chose a thumbnail that had semi-visible eyes; a whole bunch of other candidates were shrouded in umbrous dusk. Human beings derive a lot of information from eyes, and having them not be clearly seen is suspicious.
Not Mills’ fault, though. That’s just how he is, and I’m going to have to deal with it. Luckily he can still see perfectly fine straight ahead, and he used that perfect sight to can a whole bunch of triples tonight.
