Jrue Holiday is way more of an All-Star this year than he was the year he actually was an All-Star (friggin’ six years ago, where did the time go?), but he’s got pretty much a 0% chance of making it because Curry, Paul, Westbrook, and Lillard are all better than him. He’s averaging 19/5 on near 50% shooting, the highest efficiency by far of his career on his highest PPG ever, but he plays in the West so he’s not getting that particular accolade.
Holiday’s improved play has to come as a relief to Pelicans fans. I was just trash talking Nic Batum and his gargantuan five-year, $120 million contract, well, Holiday’s is even bigger than that: five years, $126 million. They’re paying him to be the third star next to Davis and Cousins, and he’s sort of living up to it, except they probably wish he would pass the ball more than he does. I guess that’s why Rajon Rondo exists. To pass the ball so Holiday doesn’t have to unless he feels like it.
