While a dapperly-dressed Jimmy Butler watched from the bench, Marcus Georges-Hunt went 3-of-10 from the field and scored 12 points in thirty minutes. Normally that wouldn’t qualify for a highlight video, except I’m not confident that Gorgeous Georges will ever score this many points in the NBA again. He was the definition of “fringe NBA guy” in the NBA last season, playing in five games and making two field goals for the Magic. This year, he’s appeared in 27 games as a third-string shooting guard, so he’s less fringe than he was last season, but still very, very fringe.
Is it just me or does MGH always have a surprised/worried look on his face? It’s like he’s thinking to himself, “I can’t believe I’m really in the NBA right now and I don’t know if I’m doing everything right. Play it cool, man, play it cool, act like you belong. Oh, the ref wants me to stand here for free throws? Yeah, I knew that. I know where to stand.” To be fair to Gorgeous Georges, if I somehow was mistakenly placed on an NBA roster, I would look a lot more surprised than he usually does.
P.S. MGH also drew a clutch offensive foul on Kyle Lowry late in this game. I don’t show defensive plays that aren’t accompanied by a stat (basically, steals and blocks) so that’s why the charge isn’t in the video. But I totally realized it happened.
