There have been 18 20-20 games this season. The list of players who’ve accomplished this feat is, predictably, basically a list of the reboundiest centers in the game. Cousins (who has frickin’ THREE 40-20 games holy buckets), Drummond, Howard, Whiteside, Towns, Jordan, Antetokounmpo (outlier alert). And Enes Kanter. That’s the company Kanter is in. Elite company.
This is Kanter’s second 20-20 game of the year. Take Towns, Whiteside, Jordan, and Antetokounmpo out if you want dudes with multiple 20-20 games. Now the company is even elite-er.
What I’m trying to get at is if he can improve a little bit next year, start taking jumpers again, maybe continue tightening up that defense, I bet he could be a fringe All-Star candidate. For real. No joke. No one would vote him in, because he has a habit of antagonizing other All-Stars and his home country can’t decide whether they like him or not (BTW I’m not ever going to seriously touch that topic again I like being alive thank you very much). But at least people could talk about whether he maybe belongs in the game and not be laughed out of the room/messageboard/AIM chatroom.
