Add Ian Clark to the list of players that received some attention while they were on the Warriors but then fell way off in popularity after departing. This list includes basically every role-player who has entered and left that organization in the past five years. Marreese Speights is on that list, for one.
Well, I still like Ian Clark. I like him even though he dominated the Bucks in some Summer League game a couple years back when he still was a total scrub for the Jazz. I remember thinking how unfair it was that frickin’ Ian Clark, king of scrubs, was hitting triple after triple, but little did I know that he would eventually carve out a decent, if minor, role in the NBA for himself.
He’s gotten a lot worse since leaving the Warriors. That teams makes their role-players look really good; the Pelicans have a habit of making them look not so good. Clark has struggled with his shooting, and since that’s the only thing he really does, that’s not a good thing. Hopefully, this 9-of-10 performance will be a sign of things to come, a future where he hits 90 percent of his shots and easily replaces the scoring lost when DeMarcus Cousins’ snapped his Achilles like a really thick rubber band.
