It seems like forever ago when Marreese “Mo Buckets” Speights was the Warriors’ 6th man chucker. Normally teams go for midget shooting guards when selecting their 6th man chuckers, but Golden State saw Speights’ chucking potential, and went for it despite him being a power forward. He basically chucked them to a championship, except for the fact that he barely got to play in the playoffs.
Back then, he was a midrange chucker. He has since expanded his game; he is now a three-point chucker of the highest order, chucking a three-pointer every THREE MINUTES this season. That’s more than every real player except for C.J. Miles. I expressed wonderment at this stat earlier in the season, not thinking he would keep it up. He has. He doesn’t care. He wants to shoot threes now. He knows that stretch-fours are a hot commodity and damned if he isn’t going to make himself one.
