I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say that Spencer Dinwiddie should win MIP, so I’ll just go out and say it: Spencer Dinwiddie should win MIP. There. Now it’s been said, and since it’s been said, we can start talking about it. For serious.
He’s doubled his scoring and assisting while his minutes have only gone up from 22 to 28 per game. That’s a big statistical leap for such a small increase in playing time. Who cares if his three-point percentage is cratering? Volume like he has doesn’t come cheap. You have to deal with some misses.
That’s basically it for my argument. There are probably better candidates out there, but I’m too lazy to think about it too deeply right now.
