It caught me way off guard when I checked Julius Randle’s stats this year and saw he was only averaging 2.4 assists per game. It seems like every time he has a good scoring game, he’s also having a good passing game. And, obviously, I’m coming fresh off making a highlight video where he gets ten dimes, so I’m subconsciously expecting, when I look at his stats, to see some crazy APG numbers. Nope. He’s actually getting fewer assists than last year, AND he’s averaging more turnovers than assists this season.
I was getting all ready to proclaim Randle as the next Lamar Odom minus the shooting, but now the stats have reared their ugly head and my genius comparison will have to go unused. Still, Randle is having a great year and he just got the fifth triple-double of his career (first this season), so there’s probably some other good player I could compare him to. I’m not going to sit here and try to figure out who that player is because my brain feels like mashed potatoes right now, but I’m sure that player exists.
