The Kings commentators were really creaming themselves over Jarrett Allen in this game. You don’t get to hear it, since my policy is “home commentators only”, but rest assured, they were lavishing praise on him like he played for Sacramento. They even had a whole mini highlights package to show while they did it. You don’t see ones for opposing players very often, especially if they’re not stars.
It makes sense, I guess. The Kings dudes haven’t seen a whole lot of Allen this season, so they were probably unprepared for the mondo shmushorama that he performs on a daily basis. The Nets commentators, on the other hand, have a complete picture of Allen and he needs to do something really spectacular (like killing Lauri Markkanen) to get them really hyped up.
If I were commentating, I’d probably spend the whole game talking about how sweet his hair (black, spherical) looked compared with his headband (white, toroidal). I’d also swear a lot, make lecherous comments about the cheerleaders, and wonder why he couldn’t just shoot it on every possession. Maybe if highlights doesn’t end up working out, I can upload vids of me commentating over games. Would that count as fair use?
