I’ve been keeping an eye on Davon Reed since the Suns saw fit to actually give him some minutes, and let me tell you, I was pretty down on his prospects of getting a DTB highlight video this season. A lot of DNPs, and when he did get DPs, he wasn’t doing much. Remember that 50-point loss to the Spurs that the Suns had? Reed went 1 of 7 in 16 minutes, the same minutes and shots that he had last game against the Thunder where they only lost by 28.
Never underestimate a tanking team when it comes to allowing scrubs to score double-digits, though. The Suns had some “injuries”, combined with their normal D-League level of talent, and it meant that Reed got to play biggish minutes, and, for the first time in his career, he delivered. Davon Reed. Delivered. 16 points. 4 threes.
It’s telling that I typed “Davon Redd” for the title of this video before correcting myself. Hardly anyone remembers the Michael Redd era of Phoenix Suns basketball, but I’m not about to let people forget. He probably wasn’t that much better than Reed is right now, actually. His knees were Hamburger Helper by that point.
