More triple-doubles. If Donovan Mitchell is going to win ROY, he needs more triple-doubles. Way more. He failed to get one tonight, in fact he wasn’t even close, so that means he’ll need to average at least 1.5 triple-doubles per game from here on out if he wants a shot at some hardware that isn’t “Finals MVP”.
Or, he can give up on that dream (that dream that I just assigned to him without consideration for what he actually desires) and just focus on what he’s really good at: putting balls in holes. He’s one of the better ball-holers in the league, and he’s only a rookie. Rookies aren’t supposed to be this offensively skilled. Does he ever just shoot regular jumpers? Heck no. If it doesn’t have a fancy move attached to it, he doesn’t want it. Regular layup? Take those two points off the board, god damn it, and give me another chance so I can do a spin move.
