If things go according to plan, Yogi Ferrell will average over ten points per game this season. Since he averaged exactly 10.0 PPG in his first season, that would make him a career ten point per game scorer. How many undrafted players become career ten point per game scorers right out of the gate? Not many of them, I would guess. Does this mean that Ferrell is currently one of the best undrafted players in the NBA? Is he the best undrafted point guard currently in the NBA? Is there an easy way to look this up or do I have to guess? He’s totally better than Matthew Dellavedova and Fred VanVleet, so that’s a start.
Anyway, I sort of get the feeling that Ferrell has reached his scoring ceiling unless he moves on to a tanking team that will start him and give him a primary role in the offense. He’s already playing nearly thirty MPG, so his scoring rate isn’t even that high. Since he also doesn’t get many assists, there’s not any reason to make him your starter unless you need that #1 pick to draft LeBron’s son.
