It took the three-headed monster of Shabazz Muhammad, Tony Snell, and Brandon Jennings for the Bucks to beat the blatantly-tanking Bulls, but they managed it. Other players eventually chipped in, but those three were the reason this game wasn’t a 20-point blowout at the end of the half.
Muhammad had 21 points in 20 minutes. As Marques Johnson said, this man is a professional scorer. Johnson also said some embarrassingly bad stuff about ignoring the horrible advanced stats that Muhammad possesses and instead appreciating how he can get buckets. I mean, I kind of get it, but you can’t just sweep away the fact that he has the worst RAPM in the league. That means something.
In addition to the (sorta) unexpected (sorta) scoring bonanza, Muhammad basically set a new career-high in assists, with 3. His actual career-high in that stat is 5, but I choose to believe that that was a mistake by the scorekeepers. This is the guy who had 7 assists TOTAL this season with the Timberwolves, and he just goes out and gets 3 like it’s no big deal? He’s basically the next Giannis, calling it now.
