Jahlil Okafor was really hearing it from the Philly Phaithful tonight. I would normally say that the reason for the boos was because Philly fans are the worst fans in the entire universe, but they have a legitimate point: Okafor was pretty much, in their opinion, a huge bust and they wanted to make sure he knew about it.
Somehow, surprising nobody, things haven’t really been working out for him Brooklyn either. There were a few optimistic souls who thought that, since they weren’t going to be really trying to win, that Okafor would get unlimited minutes and touches. Oops! Too optimistic. Turns out, he’s such a drag on player success (besides himself) that they’ve been keeping him stuck on the bench until games have entered into the time of garbage.
Tonight, he used the fourth quarter to show Philly fans what they were missing out on. A blast from the past. It was an entertaining scoring display, but I feel like those fans prefer the current iteration of the 76ers rather than the Jahlil-led version.
