Dwyane Wade isn’t even that old. He’s only just turned 37; it’s not like he’s out there Dirking it up, barely able to move. He can still do things on the court. 14 points per game is a totally legitimate amount of points to be scoring.
What I’m trying to get at here, is that there’s no way that he’s actually retiring. Forget about all the stuff that he said like “I’m definitely retiring” and “Riley can wash my nuts”. He’s a baller, and what do ballers want to do more than anything? As Hedo Turkoglu once famously said: ball. At most, Wade is going to retire and then when the offseason ends and people starting playing again, he’s gonna get the itch. The itch will get worse and worse until, a week into the season, he calls up LeBron and begs to play with him on the Lakers. Or, he just goes back to the Heat. One of the two.
You cannot watch these 22 points and tell me those are the 22 points of a man who is about to retire in just a few short months. The thumbnail image may show an old dusty man who has seen too much, but the video shows a man with enough spring in his step to get things done. And who could say no to a whole extra year of MVP chants in opposition arenas?
