The second clip in this video contains what is, in my view, the worst Eurostep ever. As a person from Europe, Nikola Jokic was brought into this world with the innate ability to do Eurosteps, but I think his instincts got corrupted a little bit because this one was really awkward (and also probably a travel). It worked, because if it didn’t work I wouldn’t be talking about it because it wouldn’t be in the video. So I guess I should say it is the worst successful Eurostep ever. Because I’ve seen a lot of unsuccessful ones that were way worse.
That’s the fun thing with Jokic. Everything he does is awkward, but he makes it work and then some. He dominates people with his awkwardness. Sometimes he’s so awkward that it loops back around and starts looking smooth. That’s when you know you’ve reached a new level as a basketball player.
And you know it pissed Hassan Whiteside off to get dominated so bad by him. First he gets benched all the time for Kelly Olynyk who is soft as heck, then he gets outplayed by some flabby white dude who can barely jump? He’s probably sitting somewhere right now thinking about how unfair it is that he couldn’t have been born a few decades earlier so he wouldn’t have to deal with all this “modern NBA” garbage.
