Washington Wizards fans, all eight of them, must be wondering where this Otto Porter impostor came from, because he certainly didn’t do anything like this while he played for them this season. And my answer to them would be, this is no impostor, this is the Otto Porter that’s been there all along, except now he doesn’t have to play with John “Fake Impact” Wall and Bradley “Trade Target” Beal, and he doesn’t have to get dragged down by a toxic locker room where everybody hates each other (and where Gilbert Arenas sometimes makes surprise appearances just to shoot guns at people).
Is this an overreaction to me having just made this highlight video, thus being in awe of Porter’s insane scoring ability? Probably. Actually, definitely. I am definitely overreacting right now. But if you watch this video, you’ll find it hard not to overreact either. I’m convinced that there must have been something wrong with the Wizards that prevented Porter from being fully unleashed. Either the coaching, the teammates, the ownership, or the (apathetic) fans, or maybe a combination of all of the above is to blame for Porter’s underwhelming stats this season.
Wizards fans might weep spontaneously upon seeing this video, but at least they can watch those sick Bobby Portis highlight videos I’ve been making recently to feel a bit better. And then they’ll think about John Wall’s ravaged, useless lower extremities and start weeping again.
