I bet there would be more hype for Torrey Craig if everybody was under the mistaken impression that he was a Welshman from Wales. His name totally sounds Welsh, so if you didn’t know any better, you would totally think he was from Wales. If I asked my mom right now where she thought a man named “Torrey Craig” was from, first she would tell me to give her some grandkids, and second she would say “Wales”. She would be wrong, but I wouldn’t blame her for being wrong.
I’m not saying that white people from the UK would generate more hype than black people from America, but actually, yes, that is what I’m saying. I don’t know how Craig can leverage this information in his favor, but there’s gotta be a way. Maybe he could shill stuff on FM radio stations. The kind of people who listen to the radio are the kind of people who would be dumb enough to buy something they heard an ad for just because “NBA superstar Torrey Craig [who is a citizen of Wales]” is endorsing it.
Note that I don’t think Thomas Welsh, the little-used Nuggets center, is from Wales, but I could be wrong about that. Maybe him and Craig could start a “probably from Wales” club where they’re the only members and they can hang out in the clubhouse and eat nachos.
