Why didn’t the Celtics go to Jaylen Brown as their 18-point fourth quarter lead dwindled to nothing, and then stopped being a lead and started being a deficit? Why did Kyrie Irving jack up all those bad threes? Why is Brad Stevens polishing his resume for a return to the college game where his deficient coaching skills will be not as big of an issue? Why are the Celtics losing games in the most insane ways possible?
We will never know. All we know is that the Hornets, led by Kemba Walker, took utter control of what looked like a lost game. And that Brown, who had 26 points going into the fourth, only scored 3 more even while the offense collapsed around and with him.
I’m not going to lie and say that this loss doesn’t make me incredibly happy. I already feel joy when any blowout occurs, because I know that I can then find sad/angry/other-negative-emotion social media posts to read. Fans have the most ridiculous takes after losses like this, it’s always a total goldmine of irrational content. Add in the fact that this is the Celtics, whose problems have been discussed already at great length, makes it even better. There are tons of Boston fans, RIGHT NOW, calling for every conceivable player/coaching change available. Waive this guy. Fire this coach. Change this lineup. Burn this arena.
