Dwayne Bacon Career High 20 Points Full Highlights (3/24/2019)

If you know anything about the exciting conclusion of this game, you’ll know that all the stuff that Dwayne Bacon did during the course of the game was made completely irrelevant and pointless. Even though he set a new career-high of twenty points (there’s no such thing as “The Hall of the Twenty-Point Scorers”, but if there was, Bacon would now be a member), Bacon’s accomplishments were overshadowed by Jeremy Lamb’s half-court game-winner as time expired.

The only hope for Bacon to get the exposure he deserves is for Jeremy Lamb to give him a shout-out or two during his “victory speech” (actually just the answers he has to give to the media). Lamb’s gotta say something like “without my man Dwayne’s career-high in points, not to mention his lockdown defense on Kawhi, there’s no way that I’m in the position to make that shot.” He should also say “I’m sorry Dwayne that I didn’t catch your inbound pass cleanly. You should have gotten the assist on my game-winner but you didn’t because of my butter fingers. My bad.” Only by saying these things can Bacon’s deserved recognition be ensured.

Meanwhile, I bet Bacon is sitting in the locker room by himself with no reporters talking to him. Maybe he likes it that way. Maybe he’s bad at answering questions. But it’s a sad image to imagine given how he basically just had the game of his life.

Related but unrelated question: when the Hornets’ commentators yell “CRISPY” after everything Bacon does, is that just a catchphrase or is that his actual nickname? I wouldn’t mind if Dwayne “Crispy” Bacon became the official new way to refer to this guy.
