Quinn Cook has looked decent as a scorer both this year and last year. I don’t know if that’s an optical illusion caused by the fact that he plays with multiple All-Stars and therefore has none of the responsibility for the scoring load placed directly on his shoulders, but it could be. Actually, it wouldn’t be an optical illusion. It would just be an illusion. An optical illusion would be if Cook’s jersey had those curvy lines on it that look like they’re moving when you stare at them.
Regardless of whether Cook is ACTUALLY a good scorer, the stats show that he’s played like one while on the Warriors. The eye-test also shows that he’s comfortable hitting jumpshots as well as layups, which are basically the two things that guards need to be able to do to be considered “good” scorers. If you do the things that make you a good scorer, does that mean you’re a good scorer, or just that you’re doing the things that would be expected of one?
I hope that Cook doesn’t suffer from “Ian Clark Syndrome” where he’ll stick around in the league due to his strong play with the perpetually-championship-contending Warriors and then suck with his new team. I want Cook to be good on his own merits, which is exactly the opposite of how I feel about Draymond Green. I want him to go to a new team and suck on his own merits.
