Jake Layman ends the season 50th in total dunks made, tied with Pascal Siakam and Kyle Kuzma. That’s pretty good! Looking at the people above him in the list, it’s a lot of bigs who should be getting more dunks, with only a few other small forwards among the names. And most of those players aren’t role-players like Layman is.
What I’m trying to get at here, is that Layman is a surprisingly good dunker for what he is. Which is a role-player who was a bona fide sub-role-player in past seasons. His athleticism has never been the question, more like was it ever worth it to keep him on the court long enough to dunk it multiple times. Before, the answer was “no”. Now, the answer is “yes, sometimes”.
You’ll have to be patient on the dunkilation, though. I’ve got a lot of stuff to get through before I get to that one. It’ll be worth the wait, don’t worry. Lots of alley-oops from Evan Turner for sure. And a couple posters if I remember correctly.
