Eric Gordon 30 Points/7 Threes Full Highlights (5/4/2019)

First off, sorry about not getting this description up quicker. I was looking at Eric Gordon’s draft class and noticed that Joe Alexander was selected right after him, and that got me thinking about how much of a bust that dude was and I started getting really sad. That era of the Bucks is long past, but it still hurts. It will never stop hurting.

While Alexander is chilling out on a couch somewhere eating potato chips and watching the playoffs like the rest of us plebs, Gordon is putting up 30-burgers in said playoffs and proving that Klay Thompson is nothing but an overrated 3-and-D chucker who benefits from playing with some of the best offensive talents in NBA history. Think of it this way: Gordon would surely average 25 a game playing with Curry and Durant, because he can manage to score 17 a game while playing with ultra-chucker Harden and overpaid-flopper Paul.

The beginning of this game saw Gordon trying to take over while Harden camped out behind the three-point line looking mopey. Things eventually shifted, with Harden getting his usual shot attempts up and finishing with a 40-burger, but I was freaking out about how aggressive Gordon was shooting the ball. 6 shots in the first 6 minutes doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is with a player like Harden on the team.

After this performance by Gordon, I am hereby revoking Clint Capela’s membership in the Rockets’ “big three”. I never should’ve put him there in the first place, but I was fooled by him padding his stats against teams who didn’t feel like defending his pick-and-rolls with Harden. Capela can’t create offense for himself; Gordon, on the other hand, is willing to chuck threes from anywhere and can also drive to the cup if he feels like it. Sorry Capela. There’s a new big three in town, and it’s almost the same as the old one except it doesn’t have you in it.
