Dejounte Murray 18 Points/6 Assists/1 Return Full Highlights (10/23/2019)

It’s amazing how quickly players can drop off your radar while they’re not playing. It’s kind of like when players retire. Tell me, have you thought about Dirk Nowitzki at all since he retired? He was an all time great, and now he’s just gone, and with so many NBA players still playing in the league, there is no more headspace for him. Likewise with Dwyane Wade. Similarly, I did not think about Dejounte Murray at all last year. He basically didn’t exist to me, so his return this season was a pleasant surprise. Murray, oh yeah, that guy the Spurs and their fanbase loved so much despite his shaky offense.

It’s been so long that I don’t even really remember what his game was like. I seem to recall a lot of hardnosed defense, some dunks, but not a whole lot of jumpers. Is that right? I have some old videos of him in my archives, but I’d need to go in there with a machete to clear out the cobwebs covering those hallowed VHS tapes. I’ll just wait for Spurs fans to tell me if what they saw on opening night was about the same things they were seeing before Murray got injured. They’re usually good about telling me truth and not lies (except when they say that Popovich is a good coach, I’m not even joking when I say that he’s overrated don’t @ me).

Was it presumptive of the Spurs to give him a nice fat new contract before he even played a game this season? Possibly, but there’s also the serious chance that Murray would do something like this in the first game and drive his asking price through the roof. What if he dropped 40? They’d have to give him the supermax. Or the supersupermax, which is the same as the supermax except you get a bunch of coupons for free barbecue at all the best San Antonio barbecue places.

I know what I’m doing for lunch:

Pop-Tart sandwiches!
