I would urge Suns fans not to get overexcited about this decisive win over the Kings. I don’t remember the reactions, but I do remember how they creamed the Mavericks on opening night last year, then proceeded to suck as hard (or harder) as any team in recent memory. It’s easy to become hyped due to the nature of the win, but it’s still just the Kings. Every time they pretend to start being good, they just end up being bad, so a win against them is never anything to be taken too seriously.
There are some differences between last year’s Mavericks win and this year’s Kings win. One of the main ones is that they don’t have Trevor Ariza any more (why the heck did Excremento give him that contract oh my god). Also no more Ryan Anderson. Instead, they have a version of Devin Booker who apparently doesn’t even care about scoring 50 anymore (I don’t believe him when he says that, scoring is in his blood) as well as Kelly Oubre, who is a 100-percent genuine certified beastmonster.
Who even needs an outside shot when you can just go into the paint and finish anything you want? Who needs fake humbleness when you can be a cocky prick who rubs everyone the wrong way? Not Oubre. He does things his own way. The beautiful way. I don’t think kids these days use the word “swag” anymore, but if they did, I bet Oubre would have it.
This highlight video is sick, but please, like I advised Suns fans, don’t get overexcited. It’s still just the Suns. We need a lot more evidence before we can say they have turned a corner and not just turned and run face-first into another wall.
