Coby White 18 Points Full Highlights (11/5/2019)

The “rookie wall” appeared suddenly and quickly for Coby White. He started off great, with a 17/7 game and a 25-burger in his first two games, things were looking great, and he ran right into it going full speed. That’s the deal with the rookie wall; you never know when it will appear. Some players run into it during Summer League and are stopped in their tracks forever. Some players avoid it until the final game of their rookie season and it takes the form of a “DNP – Coach’s Decision”. You just never know. All that’s certain is that it will be run into at some point.

After those first two contests, White shot a cool 12-for-49 from the field over 5 games. To go with 7 assists. I was kinda wondering why I wasn’t having to make more vids for him, I’m bad at noticing when players are slumping. I figured he was scoring like 12 or 13 per contest which would still be good but not quite enough for a video every time. Nope! It’s a good thing he had that 25-burger which got me all hyped otherwise I would literally be calling him a bust right now.

I could call him a bust anyway, if you want.

Perhaps this game signals his emergence on the other side of the rookie wall after spending a week clawing through bricks and mortar. He put together a really nice second-quarter full of swaggy shots and floppy hair, and then didn’t do much the rest of the game. But a good quarter is definitely better than the week full of crud Bulls fans just had to sit through.
