Everyone is noticing, with great glee, that Devonte’ Graham is totally outplaying Terry Rozier. But I wouldn’t be so quick to blame Rozier. It’s not his fault that the Hornets organization offered him that money, he had to take it. And besides, not only is Graham outplaying him, he’s outplaying everyone on the entire Hornets roster while getting paid less than all but two of them. The Martin bros have an excuse, everyone else needs to step it up. PJ Washington has been good-ish, I guess
It’s not even really close; Graham is just WAY better right now than everyone else. Coming into the season, I thought the Hornets would have some real serious problems scoring the ball, and they do, but Graham has been the savior, keeping the team close when he’s on the court and watching them utterly collapse when he’s on the bench.
I guess this was the idea with the Hornets this season: tanking for Wiseman or whichever dude is supposed to be the number 1 pick in this upcoming draft. In that sense, Graham being a beast is really messing up their plans, because I’d say half their wins so far could be attributed directly to him. Luckily, there aren’t that many full-on tanking teams this season, so a few wins shouldn’t be so bad, but I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Graham get his load significantly managed as they season grinds on.
