Coby White 27 Points/7 Threes Full Highlights (11/12/2019)

I couldn’t figure out how to put in the title of the video while still adhering to standard DownToBuck video-title conventions, so here’s some extra context for this vid if you’re from the future and maybe don’t remember exactly what happened. Coby White scored 23 points, including 7 three-pointers, in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a b-out (that’s short for “blowout”). All while his college coach (Roy Williams?) watched with tears of pride streaming down his face and the crowd chanted “M-V-P!”.

Okay, so I made up the part with the tears, but his coach was definitely there, and he was definitely clapping and looking really pleased. I know because they kept showing shots of him in the crowd and I was like “is that White’s dad? because the skin tones don’t quite match…” and then I found out the truth. He is sort of like a father figure to White, probably. Definitely. Possibly? Let’s go with major father figure.

I also made up the part about the MVP chants. Those would have been totally appropriate and called-for, because White basically took over the game entirely like a legit MVP would, but I guess Bulls fans were too busy chowing down on the disgusting deep-dish cylindrical cheese casserole they call “pizza” to do much chanting (besides some “COBY” chants). And those that weren’t too busy eating the pizza were too busy eating hotdogs with a whole frickin PICKLE just nestled in there with the meat like it’s an equal part of the experience. Remind me never to get concessions at a Bulls game.

White had been in a bit of a slump from three to start his career, so a performance like this will do wonders for his future trajectory. He’s going to be taking threes with more confidence, hopefully leading to more than 20 percent of them (his percentage prior to tonight) going in. Or, he starts chucking threes like he’s Curry but he continues bricking them like before and all of a sudden his fro gets all wilted-looking because his confidence went away. Either or.
