I’m looking at the stats right now, and what I’m seeing is that Bam Adebayo’s third season and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s third season are quite comparable. Per minute, Adebayo has got a significant edge in rebounding, Giannis has got a slight edge in scoring, and they’re about the same in assists, steals, and blocks.
I feel like the hype for Giannis at that point in his career was a little over-the-top, but mostly justified, and he turned into a real beast the next season. So where is the similar hype for Adebayo? He’s slightly older than Giannis was at the same point in their careers, but that shouldn’t matter too much. Adebayo, like Giannis, is trending significantly upward with each year he plays, so why should we not expect him to become a 20-10 point-center monster with sick defense next year?
No one can stop me from expecting that from him next season. If he fails to meet those expectations, it will be my fault for placing them on him. But if he meets them, and he probably will because he just keeps getting better, then I will be the one who was right, the voice of reason in an uncaring and unnoticing world. Screenshot this description. I will be vindicated.
