Tim Hardaway Jr. 29 Points/9 Threes Full Highlights (12/8/2019)

With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson sidelined due to various injuries and disfigurements, this is what we have to accept as a sick three-point shooting performance. Only 9 threes, I know it seems paltry compared to what we were used to with the splash brothers, but there is no un-injuring them.

There have been 6 instances of a player hitting 9 or more threes this season before Tim Hardaway Jr.’s performance tonight. It says a lot about the state of three-point shooting in the NBA right now that Devonte’ Graham was two of those performances. And it says a lot about Zach LaVine that he managed to hit 13 in a single game (something that I think went under the radar a little bit, somehow, maybe because I didn’t make a vid for it).

I’m surprised that 9 triples is a career-high for Hardaway. He’s actually never even had 8 in a game. He’s always been super willing to shoot threes, and even though his percentages haven’t been great, you’d think that there’d be at least one game out of the 400-ish that he’s played where his chucking would lead to a bunch of threes which would lead to confidence which would lead to even more threes.

It finally happened for him tonight, as he got all of his triples in the first three quarters and then went silent for the fourth. Kind of rude for the Mavericks to not even let him tie Wesley Matthews’ franchise record; who knows how much longer it will be attainable before Luka Doncic decides enough is enough and chucks stepback threes every possession for literally the entire game and hits 19 of them.
