Man, Dillon Brooks just loves taking shots he has no business taking. He must have learned some lessons from the other Brooks (the MarShon kind) while they were teammates, because he is just chucking up some seriously iffy stuff and a surprising amount of it goes in.
Watch this video. How many of these shots were “good” shots? I’m counting two, maybe three if you don’t mind deep threes early in the shot clock from not-very-good shooters. Basically, Brooks just scored 27 points while looking like Kobe out there. Is that a good thing? Lots of people will think looking like Kobe is a good thing. Is that a bad thing? Lots of people will think looking like Kobe is a bad thing.
It’s not like Grizzlies are regularly getting better shots with their offense than what Brooks can get just doing stuff by himself, so I guess it’s fine. Maybe if I watched more Grizzlies games I would notice that Brooks doesn’t help things much by being only a mediocre scorer who doesn’t bring much else to the table, but do you really think I’m going to sit down and watch full Grizzlies games regularly? I’ve watched a few and the only thing I’ve noticed is that Bruno Caboclo isn’t getting NEARLY enough playing time.
