Since Kyrie Irving went incognito with a shoulder injury about a month ago, Spencer Dinwiddie has scored under 20 points only 2 times. So if you’ve been wondering why I’ve been spamming your subscription box with endless vids depicting this dude, that’s why. I haven’t had a choice in the matter; Dinwiddie is simply dominating right now.
I’m happy for him. I really am. He’s put in the work, going from extremely marginal bench scrub to nearly All-Star caliber, and it’s been great to see his progression but man, he’s really wearing me out. Presumably Irving will come back and some point and then Dinwiddie’s scoring opportunities and assist opportunities and playing opportunities will all take a big hit, and I’ll get some relief. Until then, this is my reality: a Dinwiddie vid for basically every game he plays in.
It’s not like I even want Irving to come back. I want him to stay injured forever so the funness of the Nets can remain intact, because right now I’m getting the fun vibes from them that they had last season. Dinwiddie is a major part of those fun vibes, because of his appearance (still the most neatly-kempt facial hair in the league), his crazy layups, and his exquisite chemistry with Jarrett Allen.
