OG Anunoby 19 Points Full Highlights (12/18/2019)

Since OG Anunoby specifically doesn’t have periods in his first name to indicate an initialism, does anybody else pronounce his first name as “Awg”? In my head, it’s pronounced the same as the mostly-forgotten Ogg Vorbis music file format’s extension, which is .ogg. In fact, I’m going to start calling Anunoby “OG Vorbis” from now on to raise my cred among the technophile elite who doubtlessly are browsing my channel in large numbers.

Saying “Oh Gee” makes Anunoby sound like an original gangster. Which, maybe he is, but to have that as your name is kind of presumptuous. Besides, there are no dots in his name, so you’re obviously supposed to pronounce it as one syllable. You’re also supposed to pronounce it loud since it’s in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. I’ve contacted the Raptors’ broadcast team many times about the proper pronunciation of Anunoby’s name and I’ve never gotten a response. Even tweeting Jack Armstrong directly with increasingly unhinged, paranoid tweets only resulted in me getting blocked by him. That would definitely be a violation of my first amendment rights except he’s Canadian and they don’t have the first amendment there.

Maybe the simplest way to clear up this whole situation would be to use OG’s birth name, which is apparently “Ogugua”. That’s actually a cool name. I see no reason why he wouldn’t want to use it other than dumb Americans wouldn’t be able to pronounce it and would call him “Oh-Googy”.
