This statline (18 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists) is almost identical to the statline he had last game against the Jazz (18 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists). The only difference is the rebounds, the fact that he had 3 steals and 3 blocks in that one, and that I didn’t make a highlight video for it.
Reason: too many free throws. When your free throws outnumber your buckets, that’s almost an automatic disqualification unless you’re bringing something else to the table.
Adebayo is so good this year that a performance like this doesn’t even register as being especially good or notable. It is those things, but we’ve seen stuff like this the entire year for him. He really is like a black Nikola Jokic with athleticism and minus some of the perimeter scoring savvy. They’re even fun from the same country!
You might scoff, but don’t forget about my newly-created hashtag, #BamAdebayoIsASerb , which started off as a joke but is now gaining so much traction that I’m sensing that many people are genuinely confused about the matter. I mean, hashtags don’t lie, by their very nature they can only tell truth, and the truth this one is telling is that Adebayo hails from the sovereign nation of Serbia. If Derek Needham (look him up) can be Montenegrin, I don’t see why Adebayo can’t be Serbian.
