Kelly Oubre 20 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (12/28/2019)

I feel like every time I make a highlight video for Kelly Oubre, he’s hitting multiple midrange jumpshots. It gives the impression that Oubre is not only a smooth midrange operator, but a prolific one as well. But I just looked at basketball-reference (the website without which my descriptions would contain almost no factual content whatsoever) and they’re telling me that Oubre’s only hit 23 midrange jumpers the whole season.

Now I’m sitting here seriously questioning my sanity. Usually I’m objective enough to note when a player is randomly hot for a single game from a certain spot on the floor. Usually I’ll know that their shooting performance won’t often be repeated. But somehow I convinced myself that Oubre is some kind of midrange god, like another Kevin Durant in the making but with a hairline that’s considerably more intact.

The only explanation I can come up with is that Oubre’s dazzling good looks have tricked me into thinking things about him that I wouldn’t normally think. That might also be why I consider him to be a capable three-point shooter even though he’s shooting just 32% from deep this season. I wonder how many more of my NBA-related opinions are just completely based in fiction? It could be all of them.
