Okay, so apparently the new thing that Kelly Oubre does is blow kisses to everyone and everything after he makes a bucket. That’s cool. Going for the Gorgeous George shtick, acting vaguely effeminate while antagonizing the crowd. People already almost seem to care more about the personalities than the actual game, and if that’s going to continue to be the case, the NBA needs more outright heels. Oubre fits the bill nicely.
Especially since he’s actually good this year. It doesn’t do much good to play the part of the villain if you can’t back it up at least a little bit on the court. Oubre, in the past, would’ve been more of an annoying sideshow than anything, but now he can be an annoying main attraction. Keep blowing those kisses, bro. Eventually some fan will call him a homophobic slur and then the REAL fireworks can start.
In addition to the kisses, it looks like Oubre is continuing his tradition of brutally staring down everyone he dunks on. BRUTALLY. I’m surprised he doesn’t get called for technicals more often, honestly, some of these stares go on for WAY too long. That’s another thing he should be careful with. As we saw with Robin Lopez and Jarrett Culver, some dudes don’t respond well to being taunted and will try and punch you.
