Just call this dude “MiChRAEl Jordan” because right now Jordan McRae is chucking like prime MJ. Of course, it’s debatable whether what Jordan was doing could be rightly considered “chucking” considering that he always made tons of those shots. I maintain that it is, that chucking is chucking no matter how good the shots you’re chucking are or whether they go in or not. Others may disagree. But no one can deny that in these last few games, McRae is CHUCKING. HARD.
Gotta give him credit: he saw the opportunity that arose with all the ‘Zards injuries, and he seized it. He knows that this will be his best chance to really make an impact on the league; if he scores 40 during one of these chuckfests, no one will remember all the bricks it took to get there. They will only remember the glorious final point total. He hasn’t gotten there yet, but he will. Or at least he will try.
His shot attempts in the last five games, including tonight: 26, 15 (3 makes), 24, 11 (opportunities to chuck cut short because of getting blown out by the Magic), and now 26 again. Those are James Harden numbers, people. Actually they’re not, but they’re kind of close, and for a guy like McRae to be kind of close to Harden in terms of shooting volume is kind of nuts. Does he realize that he’s not in the G-League anymore? Considering his teammates (hear that ‘Zards players I just CALLED YOU OUT), possibly not.
Washington has been winning some games with McRae calling his number for the whole game, so maybe they’ve got something going here. Without his 29 points, they don’t beat the Hawks tonight. And yeah, it’s just the Hawks, so maybe this win doesn’t mean a whole lot, but remember: it’s also just the ‘Zards.
